Brilliant Spine Surgeon
We would like to thank Dr. Shen and his team for turning our daughter’s life around. After 18 months of us going between known, private practices, as well as seeing HSS doctors, many were hesitant and could not provide a proper diagnosis. My daughter ended up undergoing a surgery at at the best orthopedic hospital in US, which was not successful. We were very lucky to find Dr. Shen, who looked at the same MRI as all the other practitioners, and very clearly and confidently described what he saw, provided a diagnosis, and a plan of action. Dr. Shen is very caring and compassionate and answers any questions promptly. The day of the surgery went very smoothly, and recovery was better than we could’ve imagined. Our daughter went from not being able to walk for more than 7 painful minutes, to being able to walk for an hour a few days after surgery. Outstanding Spine Doctor
Dr Shen is one of the most knowledgeable and caring Spin Doctors I have ever met in my life. I don't know what I would have done had I not met him to take care of my spin problems. The other Spin Doctors had given up on me and left me to deal with agonizing pain which was unbearable. He has had to operate on me a couple of times. Dr Shen is the best doctor experience I have ever had. My dad spent his whole career in the malpractice insurance business so I am very careful about trusting doctors. I am also a gut feeling person and trusted Dr. Shen right away and never felt nervous, not even right before the surgery.I had a herniated disc at the C6-7 level that came on suddenly and caused pain down my right arm. An MRI showed that I also had spinal stenosis, bone spurs, and the C5-6 also needed attention.A local neurosurgeon said I would need disc replacement. I live in Lincoln, Nebraska. I definitely did not want to go down that road. I am only 51, way too young for something like that. I have a friend from when we lived in Denver that had similar issues. She had gone to Dr. Shen just a month before my issues came up and was super happy with the results.I am SO glad I found Dr. Shen through my Denver friend. My neck feels better than it has in years. Stiffness that I thought was stress and age is also gone.

Dr. Konakondla goes above and beyond for his patients. His expertise and compassion for everyone who steps through his doors is palpable. When my husband needed emergency back surgery he was right there to deliver the best care possible, while utilizing innovative endoscopic techniques to improve my husband’s outcomes. My husband struggled with back pain for over a year and when his symptoms escalated we knew who to call. He went into surgery feeling hopeless, in pain, and scared for what the future would bring after being limited so long by his back pain and weakness. However, he knew he was in good hands. Forever Grateful
My symptoms have disappeared! I’m not in a nursing home bed or worse. I have multiple comorbid conditions. Dr. Konakondla was the only surgeon who could help me using endoscopic spinal surgery as traditional spinal surgery was not an option. Very Tiny Scar
My first surgery with Dr. Konakondla was for an issue with my thoracic spine. I had seen one of his colleagues first who would have had to do a very invasive procedure but referred me to be evaluated for endoscpic surgery. Dr. Shen is a compassionate doctor who cares about every single patient he sees. He remembered everything about my case without a x ray or paperwork in front of him when I had questions. I successfully got two separate back surgeries this past summer. My pain in my upper back, that plagued me for years, is completely gone where I had cervical stenosis. My fusion on my lower spine is well on its way to healing fully. I vetted four different top surgeons in NYC before choosing Dr. Shen and I’m very happy with my choice. Don’t let old school surgeons tell you that endoscopic is not the way. They are just trying to get patients without learning the new technology.
